Why Get Your Dangerous Goods Licence and SLP Certification?

A Dangerous Goods Driver Licence is more than just a qualification — it’s a clear demonstration of your commitment to safety and professionalism. Holding this licence shows employers that you have the knowledge and discipline required to handle dangerous goods responsibly, giving you a strong advantage in a competitive transport industry.

Across Australia, industries such as chemical manufacturing, logistics, fuel distribution, and industrial operations rely on skilled drivers who can safely transport flammable liquids, corrosive substances, gases, explosives, and other regulated materials. With a Dangerous Goods Driver Licence, you open the door to a wide range of employment opportunities in sectors that depend on safe and compliant dangerous goods transport.

For drivers looking to work in the petroleum industry, the Safe Load Program (SLP) certification is an essential next step. The SLP focuses on the safe loading, unloading, and handling of bulk fuels including petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel. It provides the practical skills and safety knowledge required to operate confidently at fuel terminals and depots, including emergency response procedures and best‑practice tanker operations.

By combining your Dangerous Goods Driver Licence with SLP certification, you position yourself as a highly skilled and specialised operator within the fuel and dangerous goods sector. This combination is highly valued by employers and can lead to increased earning potential, stronger job security, and access to specialised roles such as bulk fuel tanker driver.

At Smiths Training Services, we deliver training based on real‑world experience and current industry standards. Our programs are designed to give you the confidence, competence, and qualifications needed to work safely and professionally in dangerous goods and petroleum transport.

Take the next step in your career with training that puts safety, compliance, and industry expertise first.
